Book in a Month… but not.

So, I’m trying to do a book in a month, but it isn’t really going so hot. Why? I’m stuck on that dreaded first page of the first chapter. I know everyone says to just get writing, but every time I tried writing that first sentence, that first paragraph, that first page… instant deletion.

Simply put: my plot was going in a different direction and it was giving me an entirely different story. I would be fine with it if I wasn’t a stickler for my own plot and outlines. The changes feel so significant that one move would derail my plot.

I’m definitely not particularly interested in rewriting right at the beginning of everything. Maybe on the next rewrite of the manuscript, I’ll adjust things, but not so quick at the beginning.
